Episode Thirty: Lyle Stevik and Princess Doe
Lyle Stevik checked into the motel in Amanda Park on Friday, September 14 2001. Nobody knows how he got to the hotel.
The next two days were mostly uneventful. Lyle was seen pacing up and down the highway, he requests towels but denies maid service.
On Monday September 17, the body of Lyle Stevik was found in his room. Investigators do not find any bags of clothes, only a small list of personal effects: a pen, a toothbrush, a tube of toothpaste as well as money left to pay for the room.
More than 15 years later, we still don't know who Lyle Stevik is and we don't know why he chose to die in Amanda Park.None of the questions have answers.
And then decades earlier, another Doe case baffled armchair sleuths. On the morning of July 15, 1982, the body of a young woman between the ages of 14 and 20 years old was discovered iin Cedar Ridge Cemetery in Blairstown, New Jersey. The victim had died a violent death making recognition impossible.
She was given the name, Princess Doe by an investigator who believes that at one point, she was someone's little girl and he refused to have her forgotten.
Currently, Princess Doe still remains unidentified. No arrests were ever made in the case, although a married couple have claimed responsibility for the victim's death. And several serial killers have been named as possible suspects.
