Episode Nineteen: Paula Jean and The Bennington Triangle

Episode Nineteen: Paula Jean and The Bennington Triangle

On a cold winter's afternoon in December 1946, 18-year-old sophomore Paula Jean Welden left Bennington College to go for a hike and was never seen again.

Paula's hike was along Vermont's Long Trail that leads through the Glastonbury Mountains all the way to Canada. Paula was dressed inappropriately for the subfreezing temperatures dressed only in jeans, sneakers and a distinctive red coat. A disorganized search due to a lack of state police and the belief that Paula had run off with a rumored boyfriend, lead to the case quickly becoming cold

The area where Paula went missing has since become known as The Bennington Triangle. Besides Paula, there have been a number of mysterious disappearances that have occurred there in the period from 1945 to 1950.

Is this the work of the infamous Bennington Monster? UFO abduction? An unknown serial killer? Or simply a case of inexperienced hikers becoming lost in the woods?
